Can you imagine an AI start-up saying no to money from investors?
DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng is doing just that.
According to The Wall Street Journal,
“In recent weeks, executives from Chinese technology companies including Tencent and Alibaba have met Liang to discuss potential cooperation, said people familiar with the companies. Those people said Liang didn’t want to charge for DeepSeek’s core AI models, which are currently free.”
What, is he some sort of Commie? Oh, wait, I guess he is.
However, his reasoning is more pragmatic than dogmatic. Liang is concerned outsiders will interfere in the company’s decisions. He is also cautious about government-linked investors because “the connection to Beijing could make it harder to win global adoption of DeepSeek’s AI models.”
IMO, DeepSeek is slower by a second or two than other generative AI programs, and less polished than Alibaba’s equally inexpensive Chat Qwen.
Here are this week’s AI-powered martech releases:
- MGID launched CTR Guard which uses machine learning and generative AI to predict and prevent declines in click-through rates. The tool analyzes campaign data to identify patterns that may lead to ad fatigue. Once identified, it automatically adjusts ad delivery to maintain performance. This process minimizes manual effort for advertisers while ensuring campaigns remain effective.
- Deevid AI introduced the AI Image Generator and AI Ad Generator. The AI Image Generator creates high-quality images from text, suitable for social media, blogs, presentations, and websites. It features an intuitive interface, enabling users without design experience to produce images. The AI Ad Generator creates optimized ads for social media and e-commerce sites. It uses AI algorithms to craft persuasive ads tailored to target audiences, improving engagement and return on investment.
- ProRata.ai unveiled ProRata Ads, an advertising platform powered by AI agents. The technology interprets the context of online content to identify relevant brands for specific pages. It then generates ads using approved brand language and integrates them into the content in real-time. By focusing on the meaning and intent of the page rather than individual user data, the system ensures ads align with the surrounding editorial material.
- transcosmos developed trans-AI Answer which uses AI to respond to customer inquiries on social media and via email. The system analyzes incoming messages, retrieves appropriate responses from a business’s knowledge base, and provides answers consistent with the context. This reduces the need for human intervention while maintaining accuracy in customer communication.
- RAD Intel enhanced its RAD Score tool for predicting influencer and content performance. The updated version includes advanced predictive analytics to forecast campaign outcomes more accurately. Real-time optimization allows adjustments during campaigns to improve engagement. Enhanced cultural relevance ensures content aligns with current audience values and trends.
- Dun & Bradstreet introduced D&B ID Graph Plus, an identity solution that connects consumer insights with B2B2C linked data. The platform integrates digital signals to provide comprehensive 360-degree customer profiles. This enables businesses to gain expanded visibility into their customers’ behaviors and preferences.
- Moonvalley launched Marey, an AI video model for Hollywood studios and filmmakers. The model relies on ethically sourced data owned or licensed by the company. Marey aims to control film and media production precisely, offering advanced capabilities tailored to professional creators.
- Typeface released a Marketing AI Platform featuring Brand Hub, Arc Agents, and Spaces. Brand Hub organizes brand assets, audiences, and aesthetics into a dynamic system that supports search and personalization. Arc Agents handle workflows across channels, creating and refining content such as images, documents, and ads. Spaces is a collaborative workspace where marketers and AI agents work together, integrating tools and workflows to streamline marketing tasks.
- Resulticks launched Genie, an AI-powered agent designed to help teams act on insights, measure attribution, and improve decision-making. Genie automates audience segmentation using AI-driven insights, allowing brands to target customers more precisely while reducing manual effort. It processes segmentation in under five minutes and integrates with customer engagement channels, converting unstructured data into actionable insights. The tool generates marketing assets such as emails, banners, and landing pages, aligning content with brand tone and customer preferences.
