The May 2025 updates for Adobe Marketo Engage started to roll out on May 23, 2025. Many of the May updates involve the new Email Designer, which was unveiled earlier this year.
Here’s a closer look at the May 2025 Adobe Marketo Engage updates:
Template compatibility for email designer: If you had email templates from the classic email editor, there’s good news: they will now be compatible with the new Email Designer.
Cloning emails created in the Email Designer: You now can clone an existing email created using the new Email Designer.
Email content personalization: Marketo Engage now follows the same camel-case syntax as the other Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) application tokens, providing a consistent experience across Adobe DX products. The new Email Designer supports all standard tokens and Marketo Engage-specific tokens such as Member, Program and My Tokens.
Role-based access control for Email Designer assets: The role-based access control (RBAC) system now provides more granular permissions and improved user management for assets powered by Email Designer.
Trigger tokens for any attribute: There is an expanded list of trigger tokens to support using data from any activity attribute in Smart Campaign fields.
GenStudio Integration: GenStudio is a generative AI-first product for ad creation that increases the scale of marketing campaign content. You can now integrate GenStudio for performance marketing from within emails to enhance marketing efficiency and maintain brand consistency.
Public Beta of new analytics feature: Advanced BI Analytics (formerly known as Revenue Explorer and Advanced Report Builder) began rolling out to all current Revenue Cycle Explorer users in mid-April. It offers a flexible reporting and visualization interface on Marketo Engage data, providing granular details about progression, performance and more. It features richer interactivity and visualization, faster performance, and a more seamless and intuitive user experience. Users who purchased the Advanced BI Analytics add-on can access this feature.
REST API ‘access_token’ parameter deprecation: The access_token query parameter used to authenticate Marketo REST API calls is being deprecated and will not be available after Oct. 31, 2025. All new and existing integrations should authenticate REST API calls using the ‘Authorization’ header.
SOAP API deprecation: Likewise, support for the Marketo SOAP API will end on Oct. 31, 2025. Services using SOAP API capabilities should be migrated to the REST API.
